The
RTC’s email server has been bombarded by
spam (unwanted email from a company,
individual, or website) as the result of insecure
customer passwords. The spam messages were
sent through valid RTC email accounts using
passwords that were compromised.
As a precaution to protect your data and our
network, we are implementing a password
reset to help prevent unauthorized access to
RTC customer email accounts. If your password was deemed insecure, you will
receive an email from
directing you to our secure
password change website.
PLEASE NOTE:
You will need to change your email
password on your smartphone or any other devices on which you receive your
RTC email.
While we usually do not recommend clicking on links in emails that ask you
to change your password or give personal information, we assure you that the
process we have set up is secure. However, in the future, we again advise you not
to click on links that are emailed to you asking for your username, password, or
other personal information. This process is an exception to the rule.
When selecting a new password, please keep the following in mind:
• Avoid using simple passwords based on dictionary words.
• Use passwords that contain a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
• Never use the same password on multiple sites or services.
We value the trust of our customers and apologize for the inconvenience of
having to change your password. Ultimately, we believe this simple step will
result in a more secure RTC email experience. If you would like additional
